On Tuesday, November 3, Chief Deputy Virginia Etherly was honored at Commissioners Court as Commissioner John Wiley Price read a resolution recognizing her 25 years of remarkable work in the District Clerk’s office.

She began as a process desk clerk, transferred to civil court, was promoted to file desk supervisor and eventually to manager of civil and family courts. While in various positions, she assumed additional roles not technically part of her job description. Always willing to go and do what is needed, at one time Virginia was manager in Trust/Accounting in conjunction with her management responsibilities of Civil/Family. There is virtually no area of civil and family operations with which she is not familiar.

“There is no one more respected for her knowledge and skills in Dallas County than Virginia,” says District Clerk Gary Fitzsimmons who tapped Virginia earlier this year as his second in command. “Where ever she goes, I am absolutely confident that she will represent me with integrity, intelligence and poise.”

In the Commissioners Court ceremony, Virginia was joined by her husband, Arthur Etherly III, and her eldest son, Arthur Etherly IV. A host of current and past colleagues, from clerks to judges, crowded the aisles to attest to the affection and respect Virginia has earned in her distinguished career.
