Gale Tobias Has Combined County, Private Legal Experience to Develop Unique Juvenile Expertise

When she was just 23, Gale Tobias joined the District Clerk’s office at its information desk. She became a clerk in a civil court, then married and moved to Florida. In 1988, Gale rejoined the civil courts but left again in 1991 to work for a law firm. She returned to the District Clerk’s office in 1992 when she sent to the family courts then the juvenile courts where she began as a second clerk, then became chief clerk. Gale has now been the court trainer in the juvenile courts for nine years.

“Before I started working in the juvenile section I had no idea that so many crimes were committed by young people or that so many children were taken from their families,” says Gale. “I now have a bigger picture of the real world because I have learned so much here.”

Even though she has been in the same job now for nine years, every day is a different challenge because she must ensure that all clerks have information they need to perform their duties. Additionally, she works daily with attorneys to help them understand how paper work is relayed to the district attorney and judges.

“One of best parts of my job is seeing children adopted by families that will love them,” says Gale. “Adoption Day is a very fulfilling project that I have been apart of since its inception. It is inspiring and uplifting to watch all of adopted children with their new families.”

Born in Garland, Gale grew up in Palmer, Texas, a small town south of Dallas where she graduated. Married for 22 years, Gale is the mother of boys Cameron and Brennen, who keep her busy with sports and other activities. She stays involved by working in concession stands and car washes, and by cheering on her children and all their friends. She also loves riding horses and snow skiing.
