WEAR JEANS WITH RIBBONS THIS WEDNESDAY AND NEXT;
OBSERVE BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH, INCREASE BENEVOLENCE FUND
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month during which major events like the Susan J. Komen Run for the Cure take place. In the District Clerk’s office, employees are joining in the effort by wearing pink ribbons on Wednesday, October 21 and October 28. The first pink ribbons were donned by file desk staff including, from left to right, Anita Freeney, Paula Burch, Franchesca Zarate and Bernita Jefferson.
All employees are encouraged to see their supervisors today to get their pink ribbons to wear throughout the remainder of the month. Additionally, for two dollars – which will go to the Benevolence Fund -- employees can wear jeans on
Wednesdays and are urged to wear pink to enhance even greater awareness.
Great strides have been made in the early detection and treatment of cancer as millions of women nationwide have learned about the critical need for self-examination, regular mammograms and the appropriate treatment for the numerous kinds of cancer that occur. But to sustain that progress, a constant vigilance and increased research are needed. So become a part of the cure by wearing pink ribbons this month and wearing pink this Wednesday.
