MICHELE MORNEAULT IS MODEL OF SERVICE TO CUSTOMERS,
SUPPORT AND COOPERATION FOR COLLEAGUES
Any one who calls the 101st District Court is always greeted by the cheerful voice of lead court clerk, Michele Morneault. Her sense of humor, infinite patience and depth of knowledge make her an ideal representative of customer service for the District Clerk’s office.
After almost twenty years in the travel industry, Michele came to the District Clerk’s office five years ago. Since then she has quickly learned and mastered the intricacies of case management and dealing with the public.
“Michele has been a key team member in the implementation of the Digital Courts Project in the 101st,” says Civil Courts Supervisor Dorothy Lankford. “This court was the first civil court to go paperless and scan all efiled documents, which has been an enormous challenge. We have had to learn as we go and no one has been a better problem-solver than Michele.”
“The biggest challenge in implementing the digital system has been getting people to change the way they do their jobs,” says Michele. “The greatest reward is being able to view the actual document rather just the docket and notes, which enables us to assist customers with a much higher level of information.”
“Almost all attorneys are eagerly embracing eFiling and digitization of records, which provides much more efficient case and document management,” adds Michele. “And judges are enthusiastic that they will be able to see documents from off-site locations. This truly is a huge step in making our courts more efficient and convenient for attorneys and judges.”
Born in Childress and raised in Garland, Michele’s great loves include her Dalmatian Chloe and her cats Precious, Patches, Smokey and Sylvester. Her other great love is spending as much time as possible at her future retirement house in South Padre Island and every weekend in the summer at her shared lake house at Lake Palestine where friends congregate to play volleyball, water ski and enjoy the sun and water. “I’m happiest at either of these places, sharing them with my pets and friends,” concludes Michele.
